As Chris is a self proclaimed sometimes struggling vegan, she highly recommends setting yourself daily goals as a way to start being intentional about veganism.
Veganuary is a thing
Happy New Year from us to you!
Whatever your circumstances, you have made it to 2022 and that is cause for celebration or reason to quietly congratulate your persistence to keep yourself healthy and to continue to grace the planet with your energy.
Veganuary is upon us! We are officially in the month which is being claimed by vegans globally. From veganism being a hushed whisper of gossip or known only as a cult-like movement, we’ve transitioned to an established tradition. This is a blessing and in many ways a testament of triumph to the many brave vegan activists who’ve paved the way in educating the planet on sustainable living. While we are not of the mind that veganism will save the planet, we believe it plays a role into supporting a more sustainable way of life. This is at the heart of why veganism or a plant-based diet means a lot to us.
In the UK, you’d be lying if you said you haven’t come across the decadent in-your-face display of vegan options as soon as you step into the supermarket. We have equally seen this kind of display in other countries which has been an encouragement to the reach of plant-based options. In essence it is equally reassurance as often we find ourselves the only vegans in our circle. This week, we found out that the giant KFC is getting in on the vegan tradition too! We are not sure if that means they will be ditching the word “CHICKEN” in their name. Or, if this will be, in the future an homage to its routes. Musings of KFC aside, this is all very exciting and music to a vegan’s ear.
More music to your ear if you are on this blog post is we have broken-down some of our starter vegan habits which got us into adopting a plant-based diet. Habits are hard to establish, and/or change! Anyone who has flirted with the idea of changing a habit knows how challenging it can be. Unfortunately procrastination and excuses are your closest allies in such times. However, these can be co-party emotions instead of resident blockages. Therefore, this time, fear not, our small changes can snowball into something meaningful and mutually beneficial for your body and the planet. We hope you find this page to be of inspiration to you rather than a mammoth inconvenience to your daily routine.
What is the purpose of a plant based-challenge?
We have come up with ideas to encourage you to be intentional about making one vegan choice per day, giving you a first hand experience of veganism. Hopefully this gives you an opportunity to explore and engage in conversations of being plant-based. Please be warned that some of the choices are darn right unhealthy! This is NOT about being the healthiest, it is about trying something new. However, if you are feeling like the healthy route is where you would like to go, then feel free to swap it with that option. We hope that you find this challenge as thrilling and exciting as we did writing it. We look forward to engage with you over what you discover. Please remember, is not about telling you to give up your favourite LAMB STEW! It’s about trying a new world, which you may or may not have tried. It is equally a way to have a conversation about veganism which we hope you can engage with us on.
20 days is not enough to change a habit but it is the intentional part that makes all the difference when trying something new!
If you are ready to start the journey we have made some easy to follow printables which we hope to publish soon.
With Love,
Chris and Dale
