If you are still struggling to find something to keep you satiated on a vegan diet, then you have found the right platform. Depending on where you live, when it comes to food: Christmas is about having a set traditional meal, following on from your great grand mothers or fathers and ancestors before, to keep the tradition alive. Or, it is a time of starting anew!
Chances are, you are here for a new beginning! And it can be tricky to feel festive when you are not having what you grew up having, as most of us come from traditional poultry/meat based diet families, especially on Christmas. However, fear not!…we know you will find our suggestions to be what you need to make Christmas unforgettable. We are excited to share what has worked for us and hope you can make these recipes with your own special twist for years to come.
When we had our first fully vegan Christmas last year, it quickly became obvious that we wanted to stay right there. Fast-forward to 2021, it has brought way more possibilities our way and we truly believe there is no better time to start the journey than now!
Why is 2021 the best year to have a vegan Christmas?
In 2021 we have seen a lot of companies embracing veganism. In the UK we have seen a shift in all supermarkets offering a dedicated space for vegan food which makes shopping a little bit easier. Even better, we have seen the rise in products labelling items as “vegan”. This has more than halved the time it takes to shop as we rarely need to read every single ingredient for approval. Supermarket vegan aisles are getting longer and with clearer labelling and this is an absolute game-changer!
Vegans have also been moderately spoilt with brands reaching into the market with giants like McDonalds launching the McPlant. Our city has also seen a boom in vegan independent restaurants which we bet yours has too. If you live in a big city, this is probably on a much bigger scale. The rise of Veganuary and many activists speaking out on issues surrounding vegan food is hard not to come by. It’s fair to say that veganism is here to stay, and the powers that be in the giant food industry coporations are making it easier for us everyday.
So…if you haven’t yet joined in. I hope the rise of veganism gives you reason to try it out.
